About Me

Hi! My name is Dawn Beaster. I founded Dawn Career Coaching to help individuals find the career journey that is right for them and set them up with the tools for continued success. In short, to help them find their joy!

A common thread in my own personal journey is my passion for helping people. I have experience in both the corporate world and the education sector. My corporate experience focused on recruiting and professional development training. For the past 20 years, I have educated and coached students in career development, with a focus on the critical marketing and business skills needed to prepare them for professional experiences after graduation. The passion, possibilities and potential of these young adults provided me with meaning and purpose in my own career. I’m a high energy person who feeds off the energy of the young adults I work with, and I knew I wanted to do more. There is nothing more amazing than seeing someone understand their purpose and make it a reality. 

My experiences are what helped me realize that a great need exists for individuals to take the time to actively discuss and be intentional about determining their path forward – whether traditional or non-traditional. A little bit of effort now can save a lot of time, money and misdirection down the road. More importantly, this exploration does not have to be a painful process. In fact, I might even dare to say that it can be fun!

I believe everyone has a path unique to them. There is such pressure to make decisions for the future. It can be overwhelming. 

Before a lot of time and money is invested on a college degree or job that may or may not suit you, I recommend we take a step back and invest some time investigating future goals and aspirations. This exercise is why I do what I do. Stepping outside of any self-limiting parameters opens up so many possibilities.

Once you have set your sights on a career path, it is important to set goals and establish a plan for achievement. Some of that is honing the right skills, both technical and soft. Another is defining and establishing a personal brand that is consistent across your resume, cover letter, LinkedIn profile and other communications. Knowing who you are and what you want is an amazing feeling. Creating the tools to share your authentic self to others is how you will find the right place for you to succeed in your career.

I have worked with young adults for more than 20 years through my education background. I understand the challenges coming out of school as one climbs those first few rungs of the career ladder. And, my experience as a recruiter and development trainer in corporate America gives me insight into what employers are looking for, particularly when it comes to the soft skills and conveying a professional brand. I also know that putting in the work doesn’t have to be hard and boring. Exploring your purpose and finding your joy should be exciting. 

My goal as a career coach is to help you determine the small steps needed for big impact and recognize that this does not have to be an arduous task. This time in your life is filled with so much opportunity. Life is not a means to an end. Life IS the journey!
